Dr. R Murat Demirer is currently assistant professor of Biomedical Engineering , Işık University and is adjunct professor of cybersecurity program at Üsküdar University. Dr Demirer received an BSc in Electrical Engineering from Kocaeli University (previously Yildiz University) in 1980 and MSc in Electrical Engineering from Istanbul Technical University in 1982. He holds a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from Bogazici University. He was enrolled in 1-year Certification Program in Ohio State University Biomedical Engineering Department in 1993-1994. He studied as a post-doctoral researcher in biomedical engineering at University of Memphis during 2002-2005. Dr.Demirer had specialized in Computational modeling in cardiac electrophysiology during 2002-2005.
Dr.R Murat Demirer attended as an Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department at University of Arkansas at Little Rock during 2007-2008 academic year. He worked in Polymorphic Encryption Development Project which was US Department of Defense project. Then he became research associate professor in computer science department and Institute for Intelligent Systems at University of Memphis during 2008-2009 academic year. He worked in bionic eye and Complex Warfare Project to develop innovative concepts and intelligent solutions for dynamically changing complex warfare scenarios (US Air Force Project).
Dr. Demirer has over 25 years of research experience in investigating the general principles of global activity across multiple brain regions, plasticity and its relationship to cognition, analysis and modeling of neural coding and dynamics during behavior, understanding of the arc from sensory perception to action, including the presence and cognitive role of internal brain states implementing large-scale graph model, hyperbolic dynamics and chaos theory , advanced signal processing for studying the brain at different scale of spatio-temporal resolution of EEG, fMRI signals.

More specifically, I develop novel neurotechnologies to diagnose or treat brain, spinal cord or peripheral nerve-related disorders and which can be rapidly accepted by clinicians and patients.


He has published 14 articles in international journals and some peer-reviewed conference proceedings.
Dr.Demirer is currently working towards uncovering the brain’s algorithms and their biological implementation. He explores applications of these algorithms to machine learning problems. In his research, Dr.Demirer uses mathematical techniques from a wide range of disciplines, including statistics, engineering and physics. He works in close collaboration with experimentalists.
