Erdem ve Anlatı Arasında: Alasdair MacIntyre Etiğiyle Felsefi Danışmanlığı Düşünmek

Alasdair MacIntyre, çağdaş felsefede ahlaki önerisiyle öne çıkmış bir düşünürdür. Erdem etiğinin pratiklerden çekilmesiyle modern dünyanın krizine işaret etmektedir. Açıkçası ona göre duygucu etik ve Kantçı ödev etiği bu konuda insanları bir kök ve iz olması bakımından gelenek, pratik ve erdemlerinden ayrı bırakmaktadır. MacIntyre, ilgili kavramları yeniden işlevsel kılmak istemektedir. Bu görüşte hareket noktaları Klasik erdem etiği özellikle Aristoteles ve Ortaçağ düşünürü Thomas Aquinas olmuştur. İskoç filozof, Aristoteles’in görüşünü ‘iyi’ kavramı hakkında açıklama yaptığı sırada erdem, pratik ve amaç (telos) arasındaki ilişkiyi yerli yerinde değerlendirmesi kanaati üzerinden alır ve günlük sorunlar için kullanır. Aquinas ve Ortaçağ erdem anlayışı ise, insan yaşamının belirli bir anlatı birliği olduğunu iddia etmesini sağlayan bir arayış ve yolculuk fikriyle öne çıkmaktadır. Böylece benlik bir karaktere bağlanır ve onun birliği, anlatının talep ettiği karakterin birliği olarak verilir. Kişisel kimliğin inşası, “iyi bir yaşam nedir?” sorusu etrafında döner ve kişisel kimliğin oluşumu için yapılandırılmış bir anlatıyı temel alır. Nihayet MacIntyre felsefesi bu olanağıyla felsefi danışmanlık için güçlü bir potansiyel olarak dikkat çeker. Bu çalışmada MacIntyre’ın felsefesi özne kavramının kendisini, benliğini, davranışlarını ve eylemlerini anlamak için etik temelli öğretisi üzerinden incelenecektir. Felsefi danışmanlık açısından danışanın kimliği, geleneği ve anlatısı etik bütünlük içerisinde değerlendirildiğinde bu yeni sahaya MacIntyre’ın fikirlerinin ne tür katkılar sunacağı tartışmaya açılacaktır.

Alasdair MacIntyre is a thinker who has distinguished himself in contemporary philosophy with his moral proposition. He points to the crisis of the modern world through the withdrawal of virtue ethics from practice. Clearly, according to him, sentimental ethics and Kantian deontological ethics separate people from their traditions, practices, and virtues in terms of their roots and traces. MacIntyre seeks to re-functionalize these concepts. His starting points are classical virtue ethics, particularly Aristotle and the medieval thinker Thomas Aquinas. The Scottish philosopher takes Aristotle's view, which accurately assesses the relationship between virtue, practice, and purpose (telos), and applies it to everyday problems. Aquinas and the medieval understanding of virtue stand out with their idea of a quest and journey, which allows them to assert that human life has a certain narrative unity. Thus, the self is linked to a character, and its unity is presented as the unity of character demanded by the narrative. The construction of personal identity revolves around the question of "what is a good life?" and is based on a structured narrative for the formation of personal identity. Finally, MacIntyre's philosophy stands out as a powerful potential for philosophical counseling due to this possibility. In this study, MacIntyre's philosophy will be examined through his ethically based teachings on understanding the concept of the subject, its self, behaviors, and actions. The contributions of evaluating the client's identity, tradition, and narrative within an ethically integrated framework to this new field of philosophical counseling will be discussed.
