Maclntyre’nın Liberalizm Eleştirisi: Etik Politik Bir Tartışma

Maclntyre felsefesi genel olarak modernizm, özel olarak ise aydınlanma ve liberalizm eleştirisinde somut bir içeriğe bürünür. Toplumsal parçalanma ve ahlaki aşınma formüle edilen eleştirinin odak noktalarını oluşturmaktadır. Düşünürün modernleşme eleştirisi sosyolojik ve kültürel, modern öncesi dönemlere yönelik savunusu ise felsefidir. Aristotales felsefesi modern dünyadaki yabancılaşma sorunuyla karşılaştırılır. Oysa antik dünyadaki toplumsal örgütlenme biçimi modern alternatifle mukayese edilmeli veya antik düşünürlere karşı modern düşünürlerin tavrı sorunsallaştırılmalıydı. Makale içinde ayrıntılı bir şekilde irdelendiği üzere gelenek, pratik ve öyküsel yaşam Maclntyre’nın erdem etiği söyleminin başlıca kavramlarına karşılık gelmektedir. Düşünür gelenekçi bir rasyonalizmi temellendirmeye çalışır. Epistemolojik bir başlangıç noktası gibi formüle edilen gelenek pek açıdan paradigma kavramına benzemektedir. Modernizm eleştirisinde sırasıyla duygucu yönelim, aydınlanma ve liberalizm başlıca ağırlık noktalarına karşılık gelir. Maclntyre’nın modernizme yönelttiği eleştirilerin sınırları onun felsefesini sonuçları itibariyle tartışmalı kılar. Çünkü düşünür liberal-kapitalist düzeni kesin bir dille olumsuzlar. Ama modern dünyanın ekonomi politik altyapısının tasfiyesini içerecek ölçüde radikalleştirmez düşüncesini. Son olarak, Maclntyre düşüncesinde cumhuriyetçi-komüniteryan bir yönelim olduğu yaygın şekilde kabul edilir. Ancak bahsi geçen politik kodların düşünürün temel tezleri üzerindeki etkisi sınırlıdır. Çünkü o, toplumun bireyin otonom varlığına müdahalesi konusunda ciddi rezervlere sahiptir. Dahası cumhuriyetçi paradigmaya uygun bir şekilde katılım, müzakere ve ortak iyi arasında kurulan bağlara önem verir Maclntyre. Ancak bu vurgu liberal demokrasinin cumhuriyetçi restorasyonunu içeren politik bir ajandayla sonuçlanmaz.

Maclntyre's philosophy takes on concrete content in his critique of modernism in general, and of the Enlightenment and liberalism in particular. Social disintegration and moral erosion form the focal points of his formulated critique. The thinker's critique of modernization is sociological and cultural, while his defense of pre-modern periods is philosophical. Aristotelian philosophy is compared to the problem of alienation in the modern world. However, the form of social organization in the ancient world should be compared with the modern alternative, or the attitude of modern thinkers towards ancient thinkers should be problematized. As examined in detail in the article, tradition, practice, and narrative life correspond to the main concepts of Maclntyre's discourse on virtue ethics. The thinker attempts to ground a traditional rationalism. Tradition, formulated as an epistemological starting point, resembles the concept of paradigm in many ways. In his critique of modernism, the sentimentalist orientation, the Enlightenment, and liberalism correspond to the main points of emphasis, respectively. The limits of Maclntyre's critiques of modernism make his philosophy controversial in terms of its consequences. While he unequivocally rejects the liberal-capitalist order, he doesn't radicalize his thought to the point of calling for the dismantling of the economic and political infrastructure of the modern world. Finally, it is widely accepted that Maclntyre's thought has a republican-communitarian orientation. However, the influence of these political codes on his core theses is limited. This is because he has serious reservations about society's intervention in the individual's autonomous existence. Furthermore, in line with the republican paradigm, Maclntyre emphasizes the connections established between participation, deliberation, and the common good. However, this emphasis does not result in a political agenda involving the republican restoration of liberal democracy.
